All students enrolled in the Athletic Training Major at Ohio State have professional liability insurance coverage that is provided through a blanket liability policy from a national provider with policy costs borne by the University. This liability insurance policy provides $1 million per incident / $3 million lifetime coverage for all assigned clinical activities that are a required part of our students' educational program.
The policy does not provide coverage for any elective "extra events" where students act as a first-aid provider and that are not assigned parts of their clinical education (e.g. high school tournaments). Students, if you plan to volunteer for such events, you must obtain a personal liability policy in addition to the Division's blanket policy.
There are several providers of such policies and you may obtain a policy from any of them. Below are links to providers where students have obtained coverage in the past.
