Program Admission v. University Admission
Admission to the Athletic Training Major is separate from admission to The Ohio State University. As a prospective student, you must first apply for admission to Ohio State and be accepted by the University.
- When you apply for admission to OSU, you should select "Athletic Training" as your intended major.
- If admitted to Ohio State's main campus (Columbus), you are admitted to the School of Allied Medical Professions as Pre-Athletic Training Major where you complete pre-requisite courses and 25 hours of observation in one of our Athletic Training facilities.
- If admitted to an Ohio State Regional Campus (Lima, Mansfield, Marion, Newark), you will probably NOT be able to complete all of your pre-requisite courses in your freshman year. If this is the case, it will take you at least five years instead of four to complete this program. Not all pre-requisite courses are available at the regional campuses. The university requires regional campus students to have earned 45 credit hours before allowing them to transfer to the main campus.
- After admission to the University, you will complete specific pre-requisite courses as outlined on our program admissions page and then apply for admission to the major in March. Admission to the major is competitive.
- Many incoming students also choose to participate in the Allied Medical Professions Learning Community through campus housing.
The Athletic Training Division is not directly involved in student admissions to the University nor can we assist in assignment to main campus vs. a regional campus. Admissions information for new and transfer students is available from the Office of Admissions. If you intend to transfer to Ohio State from another school, please also visit the Athletic Training Division's transfer webpage. |
