We welcome applications for admission to the PhD program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences in the School of Allied Medical Professions. Our program began in Autumn 2005. The purpose of this interdisciplinary PhD program is to prepare health care professionals to become leaders, professors, researchers, and scholars in their respective fields of allied health. Specific goals of our interdisciplinary program are to prepare dietitians to enter academic positions and to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in allied health disciplines.
Program Goals
The program will prepare the student to excel in an academic career at a major University. Through a combination of coursework and practical experience, students will develop competencies in
- Research methods and statistical techniques, quantitative (and qualitative) analysis to develop and conduct research
- College teaching, curriculum development, and mentoring to enter university faculty positions
- Leadership and policy to advance health care and allied health professions.
The PhD program is open to allied health professionals who have completed a graduate degree. This degree can be a Master of Science (MS) in Allied Medical Professions, Masters of Occupational Therapy (MOT), Masters of Physical Therapy (MPT), Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Masters of Science in Dietetics.
