Which type of program is right for you?

Two pathways are available to a B.S. degree in Allied Medical Professions in the field of Radiologic Sciences and Therapy, depending on the student's prior education and experience:

1.  Radiologic Science professionals who already hold a certificate or associate degree and are licensed by the ARRT, NMTCB, or ARDMS are eligible for the Degree Completion program;

2.  Students who are not registered radiologic science professionals should apply for admission to the Traditional program.

Are you a Traditional or Non-Traditional Student?

Most students who enter the Radiologic Science and Therapy program at Ohio State are traditional students.  Traditional students usually enter the University as freshmen with little or no prior college credit.  These students typically have no experience working in a medical imaging field but may have completed some or most of the coursework required under the University’s General Education Curriculum (GEC) in their freshman and sophomore years.  Many have an interest and/or have completed coursework in the sciences and/or health care.  Some may have prepared for their professional programs by fulfilling the necessary prerequisites in their freshman and sophomore years.  Most begin their professional coursework in Radiologic Sciences and Therapy in the junior year of their undergraduate programs.

BS Degree Completion students are imaging professionals who have completed prior education and experience working in the medical imaging field and are certified by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). These students will apply for enrollment in the Degree Completion Program.
Note: Students who are interested in working toward a Certificate of Study are required to follow the curriculum outlined under the Degree Completion Program.

The Graduate School also offers a Master of Science Program for the Radiologist Assistant. The Radiologist Assistant (RA) program allows graduates to apply for cetification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Students apply to the Graduate School and must meet all Graduate School requirements for admission. In addition, applicants for the RA program must be an ARRT certified radiographer, have a minimum of two years of clinical work experience as a radiographer, hold current ACLS certification, and complete a prerequisite graduate level pharmacology course.
