The professional program in Sonography is thirteen (13) quarters in length, including the summer between the first and second year, with the final seven (7) quarters being completed in sequence as shown. There is no provision for part-time or evening-only enrollment.

During the first two years of the program, students complete prerequisite courses and courses required under the General Education Curriculum (GEC). In the third professional year, students learn the basics of ultrasound and are introduced to specialization areas in obstetric and gynecologic sonography, as well as research design in biomedical science and applied medical sonography. This final year of the program also introduces students to vascular sonographic procedures with practical applications in a clinical setting along with management principles for health professionals.

A minimum total of 196 quarter hours is required for graduation, including GEC Approved List of Courses and the third- and fourth-year requirements outlined under the Sonography Curriculum (see below). Satisfactory completion leads to the Bachelor of Science in Allied Medical Professions degree.

Ohio State's Radiologic Sciences and Therapy program is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Ohio Department of Health.
